Shanklin – Ninham Country Holiday’s
Ninham Farm is located on the beautiful Isle of Wight and is bordered by mature woodland and undulating countryside. Ninham is an excellent base for exploring the Island’s different sights and attractions, with footpaths and bridleways leading immediately from the site to some of the Island’s most spectacular landscapes and beaches.
Ninham Country Holidays is a family-run camping park with a secluded rural feel, yet it is only a short distance from one of the nicest seafront resorts, and no sooner have you hopped, skipped, and jumped into the green, inland countryside, Ninham appears in the grassy midst, a camping park ideal for exploring the island.
Ninham Country Holidays is a vast property, yet it luckily lacks the commercial vibe that one might expect. Based on the old farm buildings, this is a family-owned and family-focused property. The site’s 230 pitches are also split between two fields, separated by a forested valley and covered by large deciduous trees that provide shade and shelter on hotter days. The long, private drive that takes campers down to the site adds to the quiet, country vibe, shutting them off from any road noise while also serving as a quick cycle path back to the outside world.
Campers can choose between two fields: ‘Orchard,’ the larger of the two, with ultra-modern eco-facilities that do clever things with solar and rainwater-harvesting technologies (and which also happens to include an extremely useful family room with specialist showers and a baby bath), and ‘Willow Brook,’ which has its own separate facilities that, while more basic, are functional and well-kept. In both camping grounds, pitches are mainly kept to the field’s outskirts, allowing ample space in the centre and ensuring campers aren’t jammed together in the 18 acres of space available. Those who still want more from their pitch can request the ‘XL’ option, which allows for the easy parking of mobile homes, awnings, and cars.
If the weather turns bad, return to the main reception block to find a warm indoor games room with a pool table, air hockey, and other activities, as well as free Wi-Fi and a place to relax while sipping coffee or ice cream made on site. Ninham has a sports area and a heated swimming pool outside, which is great if the weather is too cold to enjoy the water at nearby Shanklin Beach.
On two wheels is the greatest way to see the island. A fantastic network of footpaths and cycle lanes leads immediately from the campground through Ninham Farm’s expansive 120 acres, which is surrounded by mature woods and undulating countryside. The famed Shanklin Chine, a curving route with steps descending down into a mossy canyon, enhanced by the sound of a flowing waterfall, may be reached by heading south. Meanwhile, the rest of the island is accessible by automobile, with its abundance of sights and summer events providing an enjoyable itinerary for everyone, regardless of their preferences.
