Description

Sandown Beach, with miles of beautiful golden sands and Sandown’s pleasure pier, is one of the Isle of Wight’s best and most well-known beaches. Sandown is a conventional ‘bucket and spade’ holiday beach with everything you’d expect from an English family beach, and it’s popular with visitors and surfers.

Traditional coastal cafes, souvenir and beach stores line Sandown’s esplanade, while the pier offers a variety of amusements, including a crazy golf course. The beach includes various places where you may rent deckchairs, sun loungers, and windbreaks to set up camp on the beach, as well as take away teas and coffees and enjoy hot chips with salt and vinegar.

Watersports are highly popular in Yaverland, a short walk from the town, and there are several local water sports centres where you may try your hand at windsurfing, kayaking, and a variety of other activities.

The High Street, which runs parallel to the seashore, features a mix of arty and touristy stores, as well as large grocery brands, pubs, cafes, and restaurants.

The region near Sandown Bay is great for fossil hunting, so if you keep your eyes peeled, you can find yourself with a very rare, very old gift.
You can also visit the Isle of Wight Dinosaur Museum to learn more about the island’s dinosaur past.
