Shanklin – Rubstone Cottage

This hamlet breathes calm and tranquillity, nestled among a handful of lovely thatched buildings on a secluded corridor.

Everything you’ll need for your stay is two steps up to the kitchen, which includes an electric oven and gas cooktop, microwave, and fridge; a freezer, washing machine, and tumble dryer are in a separate outbuilding. In the lounge room, kick your feet up and relax on the plush sofas in front of the TV/DVD. A separate dining space with seating for four is available throughout your stay and is ideal for a family supper or two. Two delightful bedrooms – one double with nautical design and one twin – with a bathroom with a handheld shower over the bath and a WC are reached via a reasonably steep stairway.

The home features a small, enclosed gravelled courtyard area with outdoor furniture, which is ideal for al fresco dining or sunbathing. By reimbursement, a complimentary car parking ticket is offered for one vehicle for the duration of your stay; the car park is close.

Dogs are charged £20 per week, full or half.

Rubstone Cottage is just a stone’s throw from the small seaside resort, where the sand gently slopes into the water and paddling, swimming, and boating can be enjoyed. On the seafront you’ll find a variety of eateries with stunning sea views, plus traditional seaside entertainments including amusements and 18-hole crazy golf. Shanklin Chine provides an attractive route from the old village to the beach and is well worth a visit. The town has plenty of amenities, including a train down to Ryde where you can travel onwards to the mainland.
