Yarmouth – The Bugle Coaching Inn

The Bugle Coaching Inn is a lovely 16th century flagship freehouse inn in Yarmouth’s market square, just a short walk from the sea, port, and Wight Link ferry station. You’ll be wowed by the superb hospitality, food, and quality ales from the moment you walk into this lovely inn.

You know you’ll be well looked after at this Island institution because you’ve been tended after by the same family for nearly 30 years.

Yarmouth’s harbour is often bustling with ferries and smaller boats, and the town itself offers a diverse range of activities for visitors. During the summer, Yarmouth Castle, which is tucked away to the side of the ferry port, is a lovely site for sea views and family picnics. Walks and exploring the local environment are other popular diversions, with two “Sites of Special Scientific Interest” nearby, the River Yar estuary and Bouldnor and Hamstead to the east of the town.

Walking through the town reveals the town’s history, and a journey along the Grade 2 listed pier is highly recommended for views across The Solent, as well as being a popular fishing area.

A road bridge crosses the river estuary on the way out of town, and Fort Victoria Country Park, a Victorian gun battery that today houses a number of local attractions, is a short distance away. It’s also located in a lovely country park with a forest nature trail and breathtaking views of the coastline, making it a great place to visit.
